Chapter 13 - Slavic Misfortune

Well, Eduard goes about to all of the officials in Bohemia to get help to carry out his task, but everyone is busy with the preparations for crowning Therese queen of Bohemia, so they keep fobbing him off on others. Eventually he finds a count named Goltz Kinksi, who offers to help him. He notices that the streets of Prague are unusually empty, and his guide is silent and leaves him quickly at Kinski's location.

After meeting with Kinski and the silent, withdrawn noblemen with him, and discussing the troops and how to carry out their objective, Eduard finally begins to understand. These men fear for their lives, and their families, as do many in the city. The attempt to gain Bohemian independence in 1621 is not so old in many people's memories, nor the 27 Prague noblemen who were beheaded by the Austrian emperor in retribution. Kinski asks Eduard to remember that he and the men with him are doing their best to honor the wishes of the Habsburgs, and Eduard promises to do that.

Kinski then reveals that the guide was more likely scared by Eduard himself, and Eduard looks in a mirror to discover that he looks bloodless and cold. He hasn't eaten in days. Determined to regain his strength, he stays with the Kinski family and rests for the next week while the noblemen make their preparations.


Chapter 14 - Banishment of the Jews

On the chosen morning, the soldiers are divided into separate divisions for the four different Jewish neighborhoods. The plan is to first allow the Jews to leave, bringing nothing but the clothes on their backs. After a couple of days they will enter the neighborhoods themselves, seize the remaining property, and take care of any stragglers.

Eduard wanders between the lines of Jews as they are searched and their names and addresses recorded. He hears one small boy ask his mother in Yiddish who the one-eyed man is, and the mother replies that he is an Austrian. "Oh," says the boy, "a dog of the Habsburgs."

For some reason this calms Eduard enough that he regains his appetite for the first time in weeks, and he goes to sit with Kinski and his men and eat. While in their tent he hears a woman crying in Hebrew. "Please, I need these clothes for when my baby is born. If I don't have them my baby will die." And the Prague soldier who couldn't understand her replying: "You're not allowed to bring anything with you." Back and forth, the same thing, with the woman becoming more hysterical. She asks her father and brother to explain to the soldier in German, but her father tells her heavily that it won't make any difference. She holds on, stubbornly.

Eduard finally goes out himself, and finds the woman on the ground, still screaming that she needs the clothing for her baby. He asks the soldier for an explanation, and then a disbelieving voice says: "Eli?"

He looks, and the woman is his sister Dorothea. And in the line with her are his mother and father, and brother. He is in shock. Why are they here, in Prague? Kinski comes up behind him, wondering what the problem is, but Eduard still can't say a word. This is his family, his beloved family. Even though he left the Jewish community behind, he had sworn to never forget his family. And now he realizes that because of this, he can never entirely abandon his past.

Almost scared to look, he meets the eyes of his family, and sees there only joy at their seeing him again, at his being alive.

Mosheh apologizes for his daughter's behavior and moves his family on their way, stopping only to ask Eduard's name. Eduard tells him: "Eduard Andreas von Osville."

"I shall pray for your good health. Please excuse us."

They leave, but Amschel looks back once, smiling.


(T_T Family~~ I knew he was going to run into them when Therese gave that nasty order. Family that loves him. He is so going back to them. But not going to marry Dorothea, I see. One crazy theory, gone. AND the end of part V! I really thought I was never going to finish it....)

Kuracchi and Kyanon are out -- with the regular flu, I presume.

Sakurako took Kuracchi's place as the belly dancer in the bazaar.

In the same scene, Ririko was TamaTama's backup singer in place of Kyanon.

The bazaar had both girls' stand-out moments, so that's when I really noticed that they weren't there.

This evening, Tomu and Micchan had something to do, so their clubs weren't in the demachi line.

I saw almost all of the upperclassmen with clubs come out... and then Harada-san told us that Alice-chan de had been pushed back until 8:30PM.

She didn't actually come out until after 9:00PM.

And when she did, she told us that two more people are going to be announced sick tomorrow, and that she had stayed late helping the understudies with their new parts.

Some Soragumisei were wearing masks at de and some not (Alice-chan was), but I can confirm seeing Susshii-san, Ayumi-san, Yuuhi, Tomochin, Tomoe, Masako, Mii-chan, Dai-chan and Chii-chan. Oh, and later Micchan.

Who's going to be out tomorrow... Place your bets now. *sigh*

Today I went to Osaka with JoJo and Jools for Osaka Game Show (technically Japan Games Festa, or something like that). It was tiiiiiiny. For fricken reals. And most the games there are already out, and Nintendo wasn't there. >.> But I got some free stuff, and I tried a few games what I would like to play and watched one I really want.

Chapter 11 - Breslau Peace Conference

Spring of 1742. Despite the military successes of Khevenhüller in Bavaria, Austria's position (fighting Prussia, France, Bavarians, and the Saxons at once) is still perilous. The Battle of Chotusitz on May 17th of Prince Karl Alexander (Franz's brother) and Friedrich was a Prussian victory. Therese is very unsure of what to do, and her old advisers aren't able to give her any useful advice. She turns to old imperial campaign records in the library, but none seem to fit the situation. Again and again she considers calling Eduard (whose year of house arrest is now over), but again and again she balks at putting the future of Austria on the shoulders of a Jew.

At the end of yet another frustrating meeting, Eduard suddenly appears. He tells them that he has a way to regain all of the territory that has been lost. First, sue for peace with Prussia. Grant Friedrich Silesia, which he will be satisfied with. Silesia can be retaken in the future, when Austria's position is secured. Then, take on France and Bavaria. As he lays out the details of his plan everyone in the room is spellbound, including Therese, who rises out of her seat in pride and joy, with love shinning in her eyes as she looks at Eduard. Eduard is forced to look away, but when he looks back Therese has regained her composure and her command.

She orders the execution of Eduard's plan, beginning with a Peace Conference with Prussia in Breslau on June 11th. The Austrian army then laid siege to the French at Prague. Belle-Isle and his 14,000 men escape secretly in the dead of night on December 16th, through underground tunnels. Their retreat to France is harsh but successful. The Austrians have command of Prague again.

Therese hands out commendations and rewards to many men, but not a word is addressed to or about Eduard, and rumors begin swirling about the palace as people note the unfair treatment, and even begin to worry that Therese's feminine unpredictability may mean that even if they work hard they ill also never be rewarded. People begin to remember that her public dislike for Eduard reaches back even to her wedding. Therese feels suffocated, unable to expose Eduard for what he is because of the command of her father, and because she knows he will be useful in the future. She has decided to use him as much as possible, for he is after all the Sword of the Habsburgs.


Chapter 12 - Crime and Punishment in Prague

In the lull after the peace conference, more rewards and positions are handed out, and many meetings are held to determine the degree to which citizens and nobles of Prague cooperated with the enemy before and during occupation.

Franz Stefan notes Eduard's quietly rising black mood over the lack of recognition, and goes to Therese to beg her yet again to make him landed nobility. Again she refuses, wondering if her husband knows the truth about Eduard, but unwilling to be the one to tell him. Again Franz offers to run away with Eduard to Tuscany♥ Again Eduard refuses.

And then a summons comes from Therese for Eduard. He arrives for the audience with Franz. Therese gives her decision: most of the nobles and people of Prague will be forgiven, but not the Jews, who loaned money to the allied army. Eduard's job is to seize all assets belonging to the Jews, to drive them from the city, and to raze the Jewish quarter.

For a moment, no one speaks. Franz Stefan is horrified. Eduard remembers that his uncle lives in Prague, and owns a loan shop here. Then one of the advisers, who thinks happily that Eduard has been given an easy task, wonders why Eduard looks ill. Therese laughs, and says that she supposes Eduard must know someone in the Jewish Quarter, she turns away, still laughing. But Eduard's voice stops her.

"I thank you for this task, and shall see it carried out."


(Well. I thought I couldn't hate Therese any more than I already did. I see I was wrong.)

RPF-Takarazuka Revue
Characters: Haruno Sumire, Sena Jun
This is going to be the only fic where I will ask for nothing sexual whatsoever. Keep the relationship between these two as very close platonic friends. I don't care how hot they looked when they were performing with each other way back when. Because Haruno Sumire is now married, I would consider it insulting to have a story about her being in a relationship with a woman.
I'd like to see something about them meeting on the day of Sena Jun's last performance in Tokyo on 12/27/2009. Details are up to you, but I would not object if Ayano Kanami or Ootori Rei had cameos.

Rose of Versailles
There needs to be more Oscar/Rosalie fluff. I'd like something light and cheerful about a Christmas at Versailles. Perhaps Oscar and Rosalie at a ball or a banquet. Or Rosalie giving Oscar a surprise birthday/Christmas gift. Or if you want to try something darker, Christmas during the French Revolution after Oscar's death, and how Rosalie celebrates after someone she loves is gone. Keep in mind that Oscar's birthday is Christmas Day. Smut is appreciated but not necessary.

Brother Dear Brother (Oniisama e)
Pretty much anything would be fine. It would be interesting to see an AU fic about what the relationships between Nanako and St. Just and Kaoru no Kimi would have been like had St. Just not died/committed suicide.

Persona 4
Naoto/Rise is actually my OTP. Don't ask, I'm not sure how that came about either. I'd like something about the two of them on New Year's Day, paying a visit to the shrine in the shopping district. Feel free to explore what led them to become a couple and the other characters' reactions. Bonus points if the fox pesters them at the shrine.

Oh and are there any other folks doing Kuroshitsuji who haven't told me already? Just wanna check first. XD

My brain is finally leaking out of my ears. I'm trying to remember the musicals we did in high school, and all I can remember is 1776 and Guys and Dolls. A great big void is yawning in my head. Senility at 28!! XD

I've seen the trailer in theaters a few times now and I so badly want to see this movie and I'm really, really surprised it hasn't been mentioned once on my f-list. o_O

Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman. In NINE. There is no way I'm going to miss this.

今日は久しぶりにマッサージを受けてきました～

背中でも手の届く範囲は自分で指圧したり、中山さんでゴリゴリしたりしていたのですが、ここのところ全然マッサージを受けに行けていなかったので、流石に限界がきまして・・・

この秋は急激なハードスケジュールで一気にきたので、へたに途中で中途半端にほぐして風邪をひいたり 顔にヘルペスが出てきてしまっても嫌だなぁ、困るなぁというのもあり、行っていませんでした。

だったら ライブの後にたっぷり時間をかけてほぐしてもらいに行こうと♪

しかし一昨日あたりから背中に加え腰もピキピキいい始め、このまま本番2ステージは流石に辛いかもと・・・（汗）


全身一気にほぐしてもらうのは本番前にはやはり不安だったので背中と腰だけお願いしたのですが、強めに押してもらったのでかなり効きました～！
（強ければいいという訳ではありませんので、揉み返しが起こりやすい方は痛みで身体が強ばらない程度の強さをセラピストさんに伝えることをお勧めします）

まだまだ指が入り込まない板のままの背中ですが（汗）、かなり楽になりました！
やはり定期的にメンテナンスは必要ですね。


明日は朝4時起きで準備して名古屋へ向かうので、そろそろ寝ます（笑）
